WASHINGTON – The U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions Friday on more than 30 individuals, entities, and vessels involved in the illegal sale of Iranian oil and production of advanced Iranian ballistic and conventional weapons, according to reports.

The action represents an escalation in the Trump administration’s maximum pressure campaign against Iran’s economy and military capabilities. The sanctions target Iran’s so-called shadow fleet and networks facilitating weapons proliferation, following similar Treasury actions in January targeting nine vessels and their operators.

The move comes as the State Department has also intensified restrictions on Iranian officials, including visa bans on 18 high-ranking individuals accused of involvement in suppressing domestic protests.
